A Digital Cognate is a unique representation of any designated “Value”: raw material, finished products, proprietary processes, IPR, software, documents, contracts, content, transactions, people, credentials, entitlements, privileges - anything denominated by its owner.
This Value is supported by any volume or type of “Affinity Data” in any designated location, that authenticates, underpins, validates and secures the stated Value for all stakeholders.
Digital Cognates connect the element of Value in the physical world with its supporting Affinity Data in the logical world.
Proprietary processes take a “Readable Element” from the physical world, as denominated by its owner and transform this into a unique identifier “UID” linked to its Affinity Data. Joining the physical element of Value to its logical Affinity Data creates an immutable representation of intrinsic value. Readable Elements include: barcodes, QR codes, NFCs, RFIDs, multimodal biometrics, IoT / MEMs / PLC devices, GPS coordinates, chemical and electromagnetic signatures or any other readable characteristic, which Chain of Authenticity transforms into a UID.
All elements of Value, their UIDs, and Affinity Data are aggregated into a Digital Cognate which is stored in a “Centralised Immutable Archive”.
